I went further to tell them about Princess and John, and their reaction was not what I had played out in my mind. I had imagined that we would all have a bout of laughter, but instead, they scowled severely at my action.
''I had to do something. It was either that or go ballisticon her. And this is better, since she has no idea I was behind it'' I defended.
While we engaged in a heated argument about appropriateness of my action, Princess left the Principal's office. She approached us from behind me, and I only became conscious of her presence when she tapped my back.
As I turned to see Princess, my heart beat increased rapidly. Princess had quit trying to talk to me in over a month, and I desperately wanted to believe that it was merely a coincidence that she decided to approach me right after I had done something heinous to her.
The look on her face was the same she’d had since I started ignoring her a couple of months earlier. She appeared emotionless and numb. It was intimidating.
''Here'', Princess said, motioning her hand towards me, while concealing something inside her palm.
I looked at her suspiciously, wondering what she was up to. I looked at her sternly, glanced over at her stretched hand, and back to her face. Her facial expression showed that she was running impatient with my indecision, so I held out my hand to collect whatever surprise she had for me.
As she dropped the item in my hand, I gasped. It was my amber ceramic bracelet which I usually wore around. Whenever I got nervous, I would take it off my wrist and play with it.
''You dropped that in the library'', Princess said, before turning to leave.
As she disappeared, I turned towards Sharon and Sophie, absolutely stunned. They seemed puzzled about what had happened, since they didn’t see what Princess gave me. I showed them the bracelet and whispered; ''She knows.''
